Mark-AshworthMark Ashworth, DM, MRCP, FRCGP
Organisation Medical Director
Mark qualified from Southampton University in 1979 and started working in General Practice and tropical medicine before becoming a Partner at the Hurley Clinic in 1987. Since 1992, he has been a GP trainer and in 2007 was appointed Clinical Senior Lecturer at King’s College London with research interests in performance indicators, health inequalities  and mental health and ethnicity, In 2004, he gained his doctorate with a thesis on prescribing change. Mark has been the Medical Director for the Group since 2006 with overall Clinical Governance responsibility. Mark is an avid cyclist and windsurfer when not working.

 

 

 

 

 

Clare-GeradaClare Gerada, MBE, FRCP, FRCGP
Chair of Council, Royal College of General Practitioners
Clare has been a GP since 1992 when she became a Partner at the Hurley Clinic. Before becoming a GP, Clare worked in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, specialising in substance misuse. She has held a number of leadership positions including Director of Primary Care for the National Clinical Governance Team and Senior Medical Advisor to the Department of Health. She was awarded an MBE for her services to medicine and substance misuse in the Millennium Birthday Honours. She is Medical Director of the Practitioner Health Programme and has published a number of academic papers, articles, books and chapters. From 2010 to 2013 Clare will have a senior leadership position at the Royal College of GPs. Clare is a keen cyclist and dog lover.

 

 

 

 

Arvind-MadanArvind Madan, MBChB, MRCGP, DRCOG
Managing Partner in Strategy and Business Development
Arvind qualified from Leicester University Medical School in 1991 and completed his GP training at St Thomas’ Hospital. After working as a Registrar at the Hurley Clinic for a year, he became a Partner there in 1995. He has been involved in early GP Commissioning work in Lambeth, creation of GP Provider Groups in Tower Hamlets and continues to serve on various NHS and Health Related Committees. Clinical interests include Substance Misuse and improving health care in deprived communities. Since 2006 he has overseen service and premises developments for the Group and is now responsible for strategy and business development. Away from work he enjoys playing cricket and tennis.

 

 

 

 

Murray EllenderMurray Ellender, MBBS, MCEM, MRCGP
Managing Partner in Operations and Urgent Care Lead
Murray qualified from the University of London in 1999 and trained as an Accident and Emergency doctor before starting his career in General Practice. In 2006, he joined the Hurley Clinic and continues to practice at Riverside Medical Centre in Vauxhall. Murray leads on both urgent care and operational issues for the Group and visits each practice regularly. He also works part-time as the Joint Clinical Lead for Urgent Care in East London & the City. Murray stays fit by running marathons and entering endurance events.
