Ben Shankland
Primary qualifications: MB ChB, MRCGP, PGCE
Ben qualified from Liverpool Medical School in 2000. He became a partner in 2016 and Leads HR across the Hurley Group, he is also the clinical lead at Docklands medical centre and is a GP trainer on the Tower Hamlets VTS. Other roles include, director at Healthy Island Partnership (Primary care network in Tower Hamlets) and non-executive director for eConsult.
He became a GP in 2007 training on the Northwick Park VTS after initially training in orthopaedics and started working at the Hurley Clinic shortly afterwards. He worked as a lead GP across several of the Hurley Group sites and helped set up, develop and run the first GP-led Health Centre in South London before becoming a partner in 2016. Throughout his career he has always had an interest in medical education. Training and teaching GP’s, medical students, Nurses, Pharmacists and Physician Associates. Over the last four years he has mentored and supervised a number of GP’s returning to practice and undergoing rehabilitation.
Outside work, Ben is passionate about rugby, enjoys training and developing players as part of the age grade coaching set up at his local rugby club. He keeps fit as a rugby referee and an enthusiastic cyclist.
